Brian Buntz is Editor-in-Chief of R&D World and Drug Discovery & Development. With nearly two decades of editorial experience and based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he has developed expertise covering — and occasionally experimenting with — technologies related to AI, IoT, and cybersecurity.
Buntz joined WTWH Media in 2020 and has pioneered the use of AI tools in editorial work, for instance, training ML algorithms to identify innovative companies and predict countrywide R&D intensity based on historical data. He has won an Azbee Award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors for excellence in B2B journalism. His background in physics combined with his hands-on AI experience positions him at the intersection of scientific research and data-driven storytelling. He has an undergraduate degree in physics and a master’s degree in German.
