What Are Facebook Verified Pages and How Can I Get One?

You can identify “verified” pages by the blue badge next to the name of the page or profile

In 2013, Facebook rolled out “verified pages” where they place a blue badge next to popular pages to help seekers filter out authentic pages from the impersonators.

I recently found that two of WTWH Media’s publications had their accounts verified by Facebook (Design World & Solar Power World), so I looked more into what it takes to get a Facebook page verified, and this is what I learned:

What Is A Verified Facebook Page?

Some well-known public figures and Pages with large followings are verified by Facebook as having an authentic identity so they aren’t confused with impersonation or parody accounts. You can identify a verified profile or page by finding a blue badge  next to a profile or Page’s name on the page itself or in the search bar at the top of the page. Verified profiles and Pages may include: celebrities, journalists, government officials, as well as popular brands and businesses.

How Do You Get Your Page Verified?
Unfortunately, this badge is given at Facebook’s discretion nor do they give any indicators of milestones you need to reach in order to merit the coveted blue badge (i.e. certain number of fans, amount of posts per day, level of engagement, etc.). Additionally, the badge cannot be requested, but if you feel as if your page is being impersonated or infringed upon, they recommend that you report it.
My Page Has Been Verified, What Now?
Nothing really, just sit back, relax, and brag that we’re now in the “cool kids” club with pages like Brittany Spears, SportsCenter, and Donald Trump….then get back to your good work that got you there. 🙂
